Secret Garden...

I want to escape to a secret garden.
Where I'm safe, but anything can happen.
I want to have a tea party with all the magical creatures.
And I'll never ever leave.

16. Last thing you did: Had pasta for lunch. Yummy.

Love in the Afternoon...

I know that this is extremely typical of me, but I'd like to post this I said I wouldn't. I thought It was too soppy a subject, and maybe it is. I don't want to get too cliche and I don't think I will. Let's find out:
Before you un-follow me and exit the window, hear this: this is not a post about how much I want love, how sweet it is or (most atrocious of all), a lengthy post about how much I, at 14 years old, love my boyfriend. I don't have one. Never really have (excluding false year seven relationships). Perhaps that makes my view more objective, perhaps less so, I don't know. Recently, I went through a phase of not believing in love. Not in the radical sense exactly. I just thought it was put on a pedestal and made to seem all important. I felt it was just something people imagined, that was really just a lot of like. Now I'm not so sure. I am sure of a few things:
Love isn't something I need, particularly before I graduate high school. I will always feel complete without it.
Even if I find love, I won't stop valuing myself. No one should.
There is no "one". There's good circumstances, evolving personalities and attraction.
Mates before dates should apply often, but not always. Sometimes, people's partners are their best friends.
I also think that love isn't what it's made out to be: perfect and beautiful. I think it's about accepting that he finds burps funny/she'll never shut-up about "Gilmore Girls", rather that finding the person who is flawless. No one is. If you think someones perfect, you're kidding yourself. Personally I think fart jokes are a reasonable trade for someone who's caring/funny/understands me/listens to me (talk about "Gilmore Girls").

Honest Scrap

The wonderful Frangipani Princess has tagged me for "Honest Scrap". Now I am obligated to post 10 random truths about myself or go to blogger hell. Actually that's a great thing because I've been having a terrible bout of writer's block. Shudder. So here I go:

1. I swallow gum. A lot.
I don't really know why I do, but I always have and it's never been a problem. On "Braniac" they did a test to see if gum really does stay in your system for 7 years like some people say and a week after the test person swallowed the gum it was gone. Otherwise I'd probably have chocked by now.

2. I'm a serial procrastinator.
If I can put it off, I will. Until the last possible opportunity to complete my homework/ clean my room/ practise piano I find something (anything) else to occupy myself with. The thing is, as of yet, I've never had to face any serious consequences. That's what happened when you're a privileged Australian girl. You become an inactive, lazy brat. Oh dear.

3. I've been playing recorder for 10 years.
I think I've already mentioned that, but I'll count it anyway. Everyone thinks that all you can play on recorder is "Hot Cross Buns", but that's not true. I've just completed my fourth grade exam (I got honours, hooray!) and I can play real songs.

4. I like Taylor Swift.
That probably doesn't sound too notable to you, but she's the only music of that style that I like, and my music snob friends pay me out all the time. Nasty Pasties. There's just something about her songs that makes me feel happy. Not as much as "The Cat Empire" though. Look them up.

5. I can't read/ hear/ talk about gruesome stuff without needing to tense up all my muscles.
It's really strange. My Humanities teacher said it had something to do with the fight or flight instinct. I feel like I'm in the situation or something. It's always happened. In fact, I'm getting it now just writing this.

6. Sometimes I can't help but be a bit of a music snob.
I feel terrible about it, but when someone says they like music that I hate, I sometimes feel superior. Which is a terrible, ignorant way to be. I've tried really hard not to do this and I'm getting better with it. Because if listening to a certain thing makes you happy, then that's what you should listed to.

7. I like the smell of things I shouldn't.
Like glue, petrol, methylated spirits, white out and permanent marker. I'm not a chromer or anything, there's just something oddly appealing about strong smells that seem as though they'd burn your skin. Not that I go around sniffing them...*cough*. Nah, kidding.

8. I waste my life in front of "Gilmore Girls" on the TV
Last year for Christmas, my family bought me the entire box set. Double awesome. But now I watch it almost every day. Literally. I have friends who know the names of the characters and all the major plot lines, just from how much I talk about it. They've never actually seen it. My humour has also started to become a bit like theirs. Just not as awesome. At all.

9. I like little kid movies.
Particularly Disney. I lo-o-ove them sooo much. Most of my favorite movies are ones that are aimed at people 10 or under and they're so sweet and they also remind me of being younger. My absolute favourites are "Alice in Wonderland" and Aladdin".

10. It took me 3 days to think of these.
Apparently I'm not a very interesting person. I always suspected it. I actually sat here, not knowing what to write. I apologise of you've fallen asleep. It was an accident, I swear.

So with no further (and boring) ado, I tag this along to: Camelgirl, Miss Moi and Michelle.

Sometimes a thought occurs to me,

It isn't with me for long,
Not even long enough for me to fully comprehend it,
But it is always a happy thought,
Or a peaceful one, or a comforting one,
And for a while I feel lighter,
Life feels simpler,
The enormity of this thought engulfs me,
I can't quite grasp it,
It is a secret I almost discovered,
A part of the world I nearly understood,
And I am reminded of how much more there is,
It's lovely.

La bella Italia

A fantasmanastic thing has happened. My parents have decided to let me do something far beyond anything I have ever done before. It will be not only fun, but challenging, exciting, completely different, culturally and educationally beneficial and many other things that I can't think of due to my excitement. Yeah, that's right: next year in September, I'm going on five month exchange to Italy! Oh. My. Gosh! Just eight days ago I started seriously considering it, and now my parents (who I've decided are s.a.i.n.t.s) have decided I can go! Not in January, which was one of the options, but this is so very awesome! I shall be partying in Pisa and raving in Rome. I shall be chatting it up in Italiano. Oh look, pretty Italy photos:

That's Showbiz

My drama performances are on this Friday night, Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. For a piece that is only allowed to go for 8 minutes, it sure does take a lot of preparation. I have to be at the place where I rehearse:
6:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday (tech rehearsal),
and at the Banyule Theatre (what an attractive name (*cough*):
6:20 pm to 10:50 pm Thursday (dress rehearsal)
12:00 pm to 10:30 pm (ish) Friday (rehearsals and first performance)
12:00 pm to 11:00 pm (ish) Saturday (2nd two performances).
Oh dear me. All this for my 9 lines. Joy. My teacher also went and cut my kicking Tay in the balls. I'm half disappointed and half relieved.

I hate it when I laugh nervously and it's super awkward.
I hate being sick and knowing you can't eat even though you're starving.
I hate when my friends go away, but in a way, it's nice to talk to different people.
I hate when I've upset someone and I just have to wait until they forgive me and I know it's my fault.
I hate thinking of things I hate.
I hate this, wow. . .

But what if I miss?

In a week and 2 days I have my end of year drama performance. We are not ready at all. Even though our performance can only be eight minutes (there are so many different classes that that's all the time we have), we've only just finished writing it and we have terrible set up on stage and don't know some of our lines. On dear. There's one part that I'm particularly worried about:
I have to kick Tay in the balls. Not really obviously, but I have to pretend. Even though I fought to be the one who does that, I'm really nervous about it. Today we tried it for the first time, and the first time I did it I missed, and actually got know. I felt so bad. Apart from feeling so bad, it also took me a while to get the confidence to try again. I tried next on my teacher. Successfully! Hurrah! So then I tried with Tay again and did it properly! Beforehand though I was sooo nervous. And then Gavin (my teacher) said:
"Just try one more time Cat."
And so I did and Tay was like:
And I screamed. Actually screamed. And then:
"Just kidding!" said Tay.
Not. Funny. At. All.
So I actually did hit him. On the arm.
I think the worst thing though, is that if on the day I accidentally hurt him, I won't know until after the show for sure, because he'll be pretending to be hurt anyway. Oh dear, dear me.

Outfits I love, but could never pull off...

I don't think I'll ever be able to wear jumpers/cardigans/shirts as dresses. When I just wear a short-ish dress, I spend the whole day/night pulling it down. This would be even more distracting. I think she looks really nice and comfortable. I would look awkward and uncomfortable.

This girl looks awesome. I love everything she's wearing. Especially the play suit. But seriously, comment if you're brave enough to wear something that short. You have my respect.

I really like the grungy type look, but it's easy to cross the line from cute to cat-burglar. I really love these tights and glasses, and the outfit contrasts perfectly with her hair. Fortunate, really. So yes, she pulls it off, I couldn't.

Great dress. I love the sleeves. Her shoes look lovely with the outfit. I'm not gutsy enough to wear white. I eat far too much chocolate for that.

Paper Heart

Happy October everyone! The year is flying by so fast that I hardly find time to enjoy it. The holiday's have been a nice way to start appreciating the little things in life. You know, like being in lazy. You can't beat that.

I went to see "Paper Heart" today and absolutely loved it. If you haven't heard of it, it's a fake documentary starring Charlyne Yi and Michael Cera. Charlyne starts making the doco because she doesn't believe in love. she sets out to gather as many perspectives on love as she can. On her travels she meets Michael Cera. Michael and Charlyne start to get to know each other, and although at first Charlyne doesn't warm to him, she quickly changes her mind. Their relationship develops, but is difficult due to the fact that they can't spend any time without the cameras around. Also, there's the fact that Charlyne doesn't believe in love.
It's so strange watching fake documentaries. I always fall for it, and by the end I could swear it's all real. I'm a doco sucker. The acting was really good, and Michael Cera is the most adorable boy I have ever seen. I think the best performance came from Jake M. Johnson, who played the part of Nicholas Jasenovec, the director. His interest in Charlyne and Michael's relationship is hilarious. I came out of the cinema saying a big, loud "Awwwwwww", and with a huge smile on my face. The only cinema showing it in my area is the Nova, on Lygon St., but if you can find a cinema to see it in, I highly recommend it. Off you go.
