It's just like that time in "Gilmore Girls"!

I have a confession to make: I have an unhealthy addiction to "Gilmore Girls". You may not already know this because I try to keep my blog interesting and that doesn't involve my going on about something you probably don't care about. If I was letting myself really write whatever came to me, there would be at least three quotes a post. this post however, is dedicated to my addiction.
Every day I quote "Gilmore Girls" multiple times. When I'm around close friends it's usually ok. They laugh (at me not with me), shake their heads, possibly hit me and we all move on. When I'm in less familiar company however, things are different. The problem with my quotes are that usually they are not particularly witty or even that closely related to the conversation. I am just reminded of a certain moment and never think that maybe no one else cares. So whoever I'm talking to says something and I say:
"Ahahaha, it's like that time in "Gilmore Girls" when..." and I quote it.
Everyone politely listens under the impression that there will be some sort of punch line. I stop talking and everyone stares at me in awkward silence, and I am forced to say something like:
"Yeah...It's not actually that funny I just thought of it then."
This of course doesn't explain much to someone who doesn't know me well, but we move on. These people will now forever think of me as 'The weird "Gilmore Girls" freak'. Delightful.
In case you thought from what I first said about my close friends, that they don't really mind my quoting, let me assure you, you're wrong. I have at least three friends who have never seen an episode of "Gilmore Girls" but nevertheless know all the characters, who dates who and many of the central plot lines. This information is not welcome to them. At all. My quotes have been met by screams of anguish and wails of "Why me?" by my closest friends, who have to put up with them the most. You may be wondering why I don't just stop quoting. But I don't think I can. It's a serious condition I have; let's call it "Gilmoregirlsquotatitus", and there is no cure. Well, that's my excuse.
