HELLO XD

I'm back! I know, I know, what a pathetic attempt at giving up blogging, right? I've realised that this is an awesome way for me to write and read things that all you like-minded people are writing. I think I'll give my blog a makeover though; it's awfully pastel. Anyway, enjoy the new and improved Wonderland.

Simplicity.

I feel a bit differently about things right now. It's not my best friends that I'm feeling thankful for at the moment. It's the friends, however close, who are constant in their behaviours. The friends who ALWAYS make me laugh or who I KNOW I can trust. Some of these friends are really just good acquaintances, but it's always simple. Always good.

rock and roll you ate my soul.

Good morning everyone. Zmaga has tagged me with "Good For You, Mate." Thank you!

The rules:
a. mention the giver’s name
b. fill out the following questions
c. name five bloggers who you want to pass the award onto.

quirk: I suck the pips out of grapes, swallow them and then eat the grape, so that I can enjoy it properly. Why the hell would you even buy grapes with pips Dad? Why?

pet peeve: Right now I think I have to say gorgeous celebrities who whinge on about how they were "never the pretty one in high school". We all know you were. You're only reminding us of it by denying it.

favorite song: That is a really hard thing to ask of me. I don't really have a favourite song. Right now I love "I'll Make a Man Out of You" from Mulan. Don't judge what you can't understand, OK?

trend: 's are silly passing things. I am awesome in a way that is beyond trendiness. Conceited? Me? Never.

murder: Ke$ha and I will love you forever. Seriously, that drunken mess excuse for a woman has to go down.

nail color: I don't paint my nails. I'm really bad at it. There's paint everywhere when I try. On the odd occasion that I successfully paint my nails I scratch it off in a day. I just can't resist for some weird unknown reason.
However if I could, I think my answer would be this. Awesome.
Sorry it's all tags here lately, feeling a bit lacking in things to say. I'll do my best to post more regularly from now on (how many times have I said that?). Anyway, I tag: Toongen, Camelgirl, Sanchez, Maly and Sabine. Have fun.

Seven Things...

Catherine tagged me for the 7 things tag. The idea is to write a list of seven things of whatever you're given and then tag it along with a different category. So:
7 things that make me fuzzy inside:
My big green jumper. It feels so comfortable and safe.
Jess and Rory in Gilmore Girls. Shhhh.
"Don't Think Twice It's Alright" by Bob Dylan. A lot of his songs actually.
Good results on tests. Particularly maths tests.
Dancing with friends. Like a crazy person.
Blog readers, followers and comments. Yes, that means YOU.
Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah cover. It's so beautiful.
I now tag the delightful PK. 7 daily rituals.

I just love him. So much.

Everyone must breathe until their dying breath.

How much do you want this suitcase couch? A lot? I thought so.

Today was very relaxing. I had a day off and I did a bit of studying and rather too much TV watching and it was on the whole maybe just exactly what I needed. I'm going to see Regina Spektor very soon and I am so far beyond excited I couldn't even see excited in my rear view mirror. Recently I've been listening to songs off 11:11, one of her really early albums. The songs are so cool and different from her current stuff. Less poppy, more jazzy. You should check out my favourites here, here and here.

I'll just read a book instead.

First day back at school. Oh crap. On the bright side, the holidays went out with a bang. I went to a free music festival with some friends and it was so much fun. We got free polaroids (sooo awesome), danced like crazy and met musos. Hurrah.
I also got to see Hungry Kids of Hungary live there, who I'd never heard before but who my friends are obsessed with. They were really good and we had so much fun dancing even though the crowd was one of the worst ever. So many people just staring motionlessly at the stage. Anyway I highly recommend Hungry Kids of Hungary, so to check them out go here and here.
In other music news, Kate Nash has released a new single: Do-Wah-Doo. I was so excited when I found out. It's quite poppy and cute and I do like it, but I wouldn't say it was one of her best. Check it out anyway. If you don't already know Kate Nash, listen to Foundations, it's my favourite song by her.

Absence Slip

Sorry I've been missing for a while. It's the school holidays and I've been taking a kind of blogger break simultaneously. I'll be back properly when school starts (Monday). Trust me, there's nothing like doing something semi-productive like blogging to distract one from the guilt on doing something actually productive like homework.
I don't have much to say today other than to give you this advice: Don't go to see "The Last Song". Not worth the price of admission even just to laugh at.

P.S. Because you guys are awesome I want to give you an:

Bloggers Anonymous

Camelgirl tagged me with the Bloggers Anonymous tag. There aren't really any rules of this tag, except, introduce/describe yourself and then tag it on to three people.

I thought that for this post I'd actually put some pictures of myself up here.
Hi, I'm Cat
I don't quite know what to say about myself. I can't dance but I can sing a bit. I think about everything a lot. I can do weird things like clover tongue but I can't whistle. I play recorder. I re do high fives until I get them right. I'm over the top sometimes.
I love my family and I love my place in it where I'll always belong. There are a couple of friends I have who I trust with absolutely everything and a heap of people I love to pieces. I'm one of those people who genuinely finds it insanely difficult not to talk. I'm naturally pedantic but I try not to be obnoxious.
I love Bob Dylan, The Gilmore Girls and Alice In Wonderland. I care a lot and I screw things up heaps. I'm loud and crazy and full on. Some people don't like it but that's who I am.
Cat xx
P.S. I tag Tehren, Eri and Toongen.

Excitement

Source

Since I last posted an amazing thing has happened: I reached fifty followers! I never thought I'd have any followers other than my friends really, so even though my numbers have been building up for a while, I can't help but feel completely and utterly shocked. Thank you so much everyone! You make me so happy :)

P.S I'll write a proper post soon :D

Who Needs Love?

Valentine's Day- The time of year when everyone's "special someone" gets to feel extra special and the rest of us get to watch. Yes, the forteenth of February is fast approaching and I'm just not feeling it. In fact, I think the Valentine's train may be about to squash me flat. My friends sit aboard, on their comfortable velvet seats, arm in arm, oblivious to my suffering. It seems lusicrous that a fifteen year old girl would refer to herself as singe, but it feels like the appropriate term. maybe it's the unrealistic portrayal of high school in TV shows and movies that makes a boyfriend seen as vital as an arm or leg. Perhaps it's the multitudes of teens and even preteens declaring their everlasting love for each other.Whatever the cause, recently there's been a change. Couples don't make me feel sad or envious anymore. They make me feel sick. "Why the change of heart?" you may ask. I'll tell you: it's because the word 'love' no longer means what it once did. No, now love is just the word girls use to manipulate boys into watching "The Notebook" and boys use to get into girls pants. It means "Sure, you'll do until i see something shinier". My sister is twelve and last year a friend of hers got her first boyfriend. About a week in they were "in love". Two months later they broke up over msn.I guess The Pussy Cat Dolls were right about one thing. I don't need a man to make it happen. Not on Valentine's Day or any other time of year. I refuse to feel as though I'm missing something just because a bunch of twelve year olds are buying each other hideous red and pink toys. They'll be broken up in a day or two anyway.
This is another piece I wrote for English(a while ago obviously). Tell me what you think :)

A poem...

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. My life is spectacularly uninteresting at the moment. This is a poem I was assigned to write for English. It had to start with

"I remember
my childhood"
and have no more than four words per line and I actually ended up with something I'm quite pleased with, so I thought I see what you guys thought. Don't be afraid to be honest (but not nasty please)

I remember
my childhood
my neighbours
new baby
who
made
me
feel
so old.

We started
to visit
my sister
and I
and all the other
kids on the street
to see
Tom, Nat
and Maya
in
their nice
little
house.

We would talk
and laugh
and we'd bake
and read stories
or tell our own
over the years
as Maya
learnt to speak
she had birthdays
that we celebrated
playing games
and eating cake.

A lively garden
they had
full of
colourful plants
they grew carrots
that we picked
and munched
as we chatted
we could never wait
for them to grow
to their full size
but Nat and Tom
didn't mind.

Nat told us
tall tales
about
their house
and
a young ghost boy
who haunted it
she was
so
convincing
it sent chills
up my spine
I knew they
weren't real
but it felt
like they were.
I remember the stories
I remember
the baking
I remember the garden
I remember
my childhood.

"It's like totally kind what you're doing, but it won't make any difference"

Thank you Seli for giving me the Kreativ Blogger award! I won't complete the task because I did it just a few blogs ago here, but genuinely, thanks a bunch and a half.
I was also tagged by Zmaga for Cassie's Therapy Video tag, which I haven't posted in a while and which I absolutely love, so here we go:

source Abracadabra, Wow!
I like boys who like to think and girls who are nice to everyone.
I like doing methodical things like maths.
I like reading Harry Potter, no matter how many times.
I like drinking coffee, eating slices and talking with good friends at nice cafes.
I like waking up on a Sunday and realizing I can sleep in.
I like Bob Dylan lyrics.
I like netball training, it makes me feel healthy.
I like sunny parks on warm days with lots of friends.
I like finding great clothes when I don't expect to.
I like dancing to bad songs.
I like discovering new artists.
I like when someone makes me feel loved.
I love writing and reading.
Today I had a delicious chocolate slicey thing,
In some ways, I love everything. It’s less, it’s less of a thing to like, it’s less distinct, it’s less particular, I like things that I like but I love everything. There’s more choice in like, Cos even the worst things have things you love in them. I don’t know what you mean about things I hate…
I hate when some one's sad, and I can't help.
I hate regretting things that I can't fix or change.
I hate being laughed at.
I hate liking people I shouldn't.
I hate being let down by people I love.
I hate jogging but in a way, I like how I feel afterwards.
I hate waiting rooms.
I hate remembering my old self and not liking who I was.
I hate this, wow... sorry.
I'd like to tag both the Kreativ Blogger Award (in which you must write seven facts about yourself and tag it along to seven other bloggers) and Cassie's Therapy Video Tag along to: Maly, Camelgirl, Julia, Frangi, Phoebe, Scarz and Catherine. Enjoy :D

Have a read?

As I walked out onto the porch, I saw him for the second time. He was sitting on the brick wall outside his house now, where the bins were kept and the mailbox was. He had a cigarette in his hand and was looking onto the street, his brow furrowed, as though he was looking for something, or thinking about something important. For some reason, he looked at that moment, like everything I wanted. Something that was interesting; mysterious. Something I hadn’t been able to put my finger on until that moment. I so desperately wanted to talk to him, to know him. I stood there on my porch for a minute or two, watching him and trying to think of an excuse to approach him. Eventually I walked over, trying to look confident and jumped up to sit beside him on the wall.
“Can I have a drag?” I asked.
I knew how pathetic I probably sounded, but knew immediately that it was worth it, when he looked at me and a pack of butterflies went crazy inside me. He just studied me for a few, long moments, and then said:
“You smoke?”
The truth was I didn’t. I had before, but found it awful.
“A bit.” I answered.
“You shouldn’t. It’ll kill you.” He said, but handed me the cigarette.
I put the cigarette to my lips, trying to recall what Leah had told me the one time I’d tried this before. Taking it away from my lips, I passed it back to him and exhaled.
“I’m Elodie.” I offered, looking at him.
“Mitchell.” He replied, not turning to look back at me.

This is a story I've recently started writing, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback on this paragraph? If you could tell what you think, and also whether you think the two should get together or just become really good friends, that'd be awesome. Thanks :)

And the girls want to know why boys like them so much.

I was visiting Frangipani Princess's Formspring page just as second ago and someone asked her:
You talk about all the important issues, but you don't talk about guy issues. You talk about hot celebreties but you don't talk about the guys you actually know :(
To which Frangi replied:
there's a simple explanation for that one:
I don't really know any guys. i've never had a boyfriend. never been kissed. i only have like, one guy friend, and he lives five hours away. if i had more knowledge or experience on the topic, i'd definitely post about it. i'll keep it in mind though, and maybe i'll do a post on it after i get settled in my new school :)
Which is perfectly reasonable, but it got me thinking (dangerous, I know.). I know lots of boys. I have heaps of boy...friends but no boyfriend to speak of. I know it's a stereotype, but it's true, guys are a lot less bitchy than girls and therefore far easier to be around. So why aren't there more boy/girl friendships? I can honestly talk to boys equally as easily as to girls. I think the whole mentality is something everyone just needs to get past because boys are great.
One of the people I can talk to about anything is a guy. He's one of my absoloute best friends and I know he'd never judge me or make me feel stupid. I sometimes feel that on the whole girls are a lot more judgemental of others. Not that I don't love a lot of girls too....that made me sound a bit slutty...

Happy Birthday to ME :)

I just celebrated my fifteenth birthday, and I had such an awesome time.

In other news, I signed up for a formspring page, so if you want to ask me an anonymous question, I'll do my best to answer: www.formspring.me/CatsFab
School started today. I had mixed feelings, but it was a pretty good day on the whole. I missed people a lot, so it was really nice to see them again.

Sabine Cara and Camelgirl both gave me the "Kreativ Blogger" tag. Thanks so much :)
So for this tag the idea is to write seven things about yourself and then tag it along to seven others. Here we go: One: I love old Disney fairytales and I collect old Disney videos. Two: I hate all team sports except for netball, which I love. Three: I mock trashy mags a lot, but secretly, I can't get enough. Four: I love dancing really, I'm just far too self concsious to do it in front of anyone. Five: I find dirty jokes hilarious. Six: I know all the steps to the Hoedown Throwdown. Seven: I like to project my perfect self into the blogosphere, removing any blemishes. Polly, Elfie, Selina, Eri, Julia, Frangi and Maly, consider yourselves tagged.

And here are a few vids/songs you should check out: :) :) :) :)

Nice to be back.

Julia has awarded me the "Happy 101" award. To complete this, post 10 things that make you happy and make sure you do at least one of them today:
Writing. Drinking chai tea. Listening to thunder storms while warm inside my house. Listening to Bob Dylan. Performing. Lazy, warm, beachy days. Underwater hand stands (the only kind I'm capable). Genuine compliments on bad days. Uncontrollable laughter. Friendly strangers.

I'm tagging this along to 7 things. On another note, I apologise for my absence for that past couple of weeks. I've been away at the beach. I'd forgotten how relaxing it can be to have no schedule and no obligation to spend time with friends.
I'd also like to say thank you to all 40 (yesss) of my marvellous followers; you all make my day.

Sunrise...

Good morning all!
It's bright an early on Wednesday morning and I didn't sleep at all last night. A friend and I sat up all through the dark, chatting and watching "Sleeping Beauty". There's something ever so whimsical about being awake as the sun rises, and how quickly it happens. One moment we were whispering to black masses in complete darkness and the next we were speaking in normal tones surrounded by the fully announced morning sunlight.

The Earth is a wonderful and ever changing place.

Christmas.

My Christmas was wonderful and filled with: family, friends, speeches, presents, moose juice, turkey, vouchers, pavlova, trees, decorations, introductions, anecdotes, chocolates, photos, stockings, laughter, a very pretty dress, shopping, the joy of giving, music, dancing, mince tarts, anticipation and love.

How was yours?
